Introducing Hard Rock Hotel Penang Pinktober 2013 Set Menu!!!

It is the month again which you will see pink everywhere. 😛 For those who are oblivious or ignorant or just plain busy, October is the month of breast cancer awareness. It is always a heart breaking thing to lose your family members, relatives or friends to cancer.

A lot of activities has be organised by a lot of government, NGOs and private sectors. One of them is Hard Rock Hotel Penang (HRHP). Hard Rock Penang is an advocate of breast cancer awareness and has been organising a lot of activities for this initiative to increase women awareness of breast cancer and also to aid the organizations that need the funds to do initiatives related to breast cancer.

KayaButter has been invitied to cover their Hard Rock Cafe launch of Pinktober Set Menu. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital Penang. How nice is that!!! You can help the needy people while enjoying great food in a great ambience.

Here is what you get for their Pinktober Set Menu:

1 X Starter

Soup of the Day (comes with Garlic Bread)

1 X Main Course

For the main course, you can choose from:

• Pinktober…ger
  Mexican chilli beef burger with melted Orange Cheddar & Jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato and onion. Served with seasoned fries.
• Chicken BLT Sandwich
  Deep fried chicken thigh served in Ciabatta bun (click on the word in case if you don’t know what is a Ciabatta bun :-)), ranch bean, lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar cheese and mayonnaise. Served with seasoned fries.
• Grilled Cajun Fish
  Grilled fish fillet with Cajun spices served with fresh mixed salads, soya ginger dressing, lyonnaise, potatoes and mango salsa.

1 X Dessert

Strawberry Sorbet
Dessert made of lemon pomegranate sorbet served with wild berry caulis, chantilly cream and fresh strawberry.

All for RM58++. KayaButter personally feels that it is quite cheap especially the portion served is rather big. 🙂 On on note, drinks are not in the set menu and you need to order personally. They do offer two Pinktober drinks:

Here is the review of the 2 main courses that KayaButter get to taste. We didn’t get to taste Pinktober…ger because each of us get to order only one main course and it is more of like a media launch thingy. Still, Kaya managed to snap the picture of Pinktober…ger and asked a Guang Ming journalist who ordered the main course about his review.

Soup of the Day – Mushroom Soup

A very thick and tasty mushroom soup. Good to jump start your appetite. Remember to dip the garlic bread. It is so crispy. 🙂

Grilled Cajun Fish

Butter ordered this since she is trying to avoid fried food. The fish is tender and juicy and the mixed salad and Cajun spices make each bite very inviting. The mixed salad with mango salsa is also very nice.

Chicken BLT

Kaya ordered this since Butter has already ordered fish. The main course portion is quite big. We like to call it American size. if you have a small stomach, do share this dish.

The chicken meat is tender and juicy and damn crispy. You definitely cannot eat it with your hands like Mc Donald’s burger. The combination of the juiciness of the bacon, aromatic smell of cheese and sweetness of mayonnaise and crispiness of the fried chicken thigh is heavenly awesome. 😛

Pinktober…ger

The Guang Ming journalist liked this dish as the beef is not too dry or hard to chew. Cooked just right. And it is quite spicy. The portion is quite big also and he can’t finish the dish also. This is also due to the fact that he had taken something prior coming to the launch.

One of the Hard Rocker bartender explains to us how they prepared the cocktail and mocktail. Lots of efforts in there. 🙂

Pink Posh Cocktail. RM35++

This is a combination of X-Rated Hypnotic Rasberry and Peach Tree Snap. KayaButter both are not fans of alcohol. Kaya ordered this since Butter ordered Pink Dream Mocktail. It tastes refreshing and the alcohol is not so strong. That’s all Kaya can say. Sorry for not being able to elaborate. 🙁

Pink Dream Mocktail. RM26++

KayaButter’s favourite drink since we are not alcohol lovers. 😛 The flavour is very thick and refreshing. It is a combination of strawberry puree that gives the sourish taste, banana puree that gives the sweet taste, pina (coconut drink), yoghurt and whipping cream. In short, a great drink. 🙂

After drinking the Pink Dream Mocktail, Kaya has a hard time to finish his main course which is Chicken BLT. The dish is really quite big, American size. 😛 In the end, Kaya asked them to pack my remaining food for take away. KayaButter are surprised when they gave us a beautiful box to take away our food. Great impression made. Totally worth the money paid for this kind of quality of service.

While at home, Kaya opened the take away box and was in for another surprise. They packed the remaining chicken in an aluminium foil and the fries on the brown paper. How cool is that?! Hard Rock Cafe, you really know how to win your customer’s heart. Very detailed oriented. Sure leaves a damn good impression on us. 🙂
