Introducing the New Menu with New Dishes @ Starz Diner, Hard Rock Hotel Penang!

Hard Rock Hotel is synonymous with quality and great hospitality and service. KayaButter’s food review sessions with them never fail to impress us. The place is very vibrant and modern, the staffs are always smiling and energetic and the food? High quality. You will rarely go wrong with their food. 🙂 This is a testimony from us after attending their food review for many occasions. 🙂

And now Hard Rock Hotel Penang is upgrading their offer of food choices for their restaurant, Star Dinerz. And believe me, they are going to the right direction. KayaButter are given their best sellers to review. These are based on what their customers have been ordering since they introduced their new menu and new dishes in January 2014. And KayaButter heard that they will temporarily close down Star Dinerz somewhere April 2014 to renovate them for even better restaurant.

Here are their top 6 food choices and our review:

Fish Wraps RM30.00

Deep fried fish fillet wrapped in tortilla skin, filled with romaine lettuce, chili, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, cheese and honey mustard coriander spread.

KayaButter love this very much. It tasted very light and good for those who want something simple and healthy but delicious. It tasted something like Mc Donald’s GFO (Grilled Foldover) but definitely more flavorful and tastier. The tortilla skin is thin enough and soft to munch and the combination of the ingredients make it just perfect. 🙂 Oh ya, they have a spicy version of this dish which comes with cili padi (bird’s eye chili pepper). Good for those who love the extra kick of spiciness. 🙂

Chicken ‘Briyani’ RM26.00

Slow braised spiced chicken ‘briyani’, ‘briyani’ rice, cashew nuts, raisins, Indian crackers and vegetable dael.

Every part of this dish spells Y-U-M-M-Y. You must try this dish! Kaya personally like the rice because it has raisins in it. It just makes the rice extra yummy. Hehe. Do eat the rice while it is hot as the time when we try the rice, it was cold and not that nice. After that, we ordered again the same dish and this time the rice was superb! This is a rather large dish and suitable for two person if you are not a big big eater. The chicken portion comes with two pieces of chicken.

Mediterranean Cheese Burger RM38.00

Grilled 10 Oz beef or chicken patty with Mediterranean cheese, caramelized onions, smoked BBQ sauce, mixed salad and potato wedges.

Hard Rock Hotel burgers never fail you. They prepare the patty themselves instead of buying them frozen. Hence, the great taste of the burger in each bite. The potato wedges fried to the right crunchiness. 🙂 Again, this dish is quite large and enough to cater to two person who has a small stomach.

Rice Paper Rolls RM18.00

Freshly rolled with pickled vegetables, mint leaves, coriander and marinated glass noodles with garlic chili plum dip.

Another light and healthy dish for those who are looking to cut down their calories. It is almost like the Vietnamese spring roll. QQ and crunchy. Remember to try one without the garlic chili plum dip and one with it. Kaya prefer with the garlic chili plum dip for the extra flavor.

Salmon ‘Pegaga’ RM20.00

Pan fried salmon, mashed pumpkin, pegaga pesto with pomegranate salsa.

Fried to the right taste without the burnt smell and surprisingly the mashed pumpkin tasted very good. 🙂

Mince Pie (Chicken) RM28.00

Lamb filling RM28.00 and Chicken filling RM24.00, Both served with mushy peas mashed & beef brown sauce.

Vegetable filling RM20.00

Served with mushy peas and vegetable cream sauce.

Crispy outside and soft and smooth filling. This dish is enough for one person who has a small stomach. 🙂

Apple Pie RM22.00

Filled wtih apple cinnamon, topped with vanilla ice cream and mixed berry compote.

KayaButter have sweet tooth. This fits the bill. KayaButter loved the vanilla ice cream and the sweet cup that holds the vanilla ice cream. Crunchy and sweet at the same time. The mixed berry and the apple cinnamon inside make a very good combination for dessert lovers. 🙂

A very refreshing fruit punch drink. Specially done for the media people and food bloggers. Helps to refresh you when you are tired. It is not in the menu. Sorry. 🙁

The New Menu of Starz Diner

Their menu has been upgraded and very user-friendly. They have indicators to inform customers more about the dishes that they offer. You can easily know which is their signature dish and which is hot & spicy. If you are a vegetarian, Starz Diner has something for you too. And if you are particular about gluten or nuts, look for the sign also to avoid them. Well done, Hard Rock Hotel Penang. 🙂

Personally, KayaButter loved the Fish Wraps the most, followed by Chicken ‘Briyani’ and Mediterranean Cheese Burger. The Rice Paper Rolls is very new and refreshing dish also. Many of the media people and other food bloggers also place their preference according that what we have listed. So, it is very safe to order the top 3 food that we have placed. 😛
