Love & Latte (& Lots of Nutella Too!) @ Love Lane, Georgetown, Penang!
Rejoice, Nutella lovers! There’s a rather new cafe in Georgetown area that serves a lot of Nutella-based dishes! It is the 1st Nutella cafe in Penang! Founded by cousins Matthew and Kian Tat, Love & Latte cafe serves coffee, Nutella, brunch such as toasts, pancakes, croissants and set meals at Love Lane, the infamous lovey-dovey lane in Penang, whereby the riches used to keep their mistresses there and flesh trades in the olden days! Now, many cafes, boutique hotels and hostels are sprouting at Love Lane and everywhere in Penang ever since Georgetown, Penang was awarded UNESCO Heritage Site.
Located quite near to the 7-11 at the corner end of Love Lane, you can easily spot Love Lane side signboard. Parking is quite a problem there as limited legal parking spaces are available. You can get parking easier at the another end of the Love Lane, near to Saint Xavier’s High School. KayaButter parked our car there for our food review and walked to Love & Latte.
A quaint and cosy little cafe.
Kaya is a sucker for chalk handwritings. It creates the relaxed and natural ambience. Here you can see their signature drinks & some information about their promotion and yes, I bet you will see this also: Free WiFi. Such an important feature of any cafes in Penang & Malaysia.
Choose your favourite poison here at the counter, alcohol lovers! 🙂 RM50 per bucket!
Yellow or a mixture of yellow and white light bulbs are the essential items that makes the atmosphere and ambience of any cafes. It sets a very nice and cosy ambience and atmosphere. As usual, cafes that are opened inside heritage buildings tend to be long and narrow. The main reason for this is because during the British ruling, the tax is calculated based on the width of your house. Hence, many pre-war shophouses or heritage houses are long and narrow. Hehe. This is the knowledge that Kaya gained after becoming a Penang local tour guide! Do email us or leave a comment if you need a private tour guide to bring you around Penang. 🙂
What a great way to explain ‘Love’!
Since the cafe is rather small, thank God that they have a 2nd floor to accommodate more crowd. Be careful of the staircase as you climb it. It is rather steep.
Let our food review begins! 🙂
It’s Pizza Time!!! 🙂
Bacon & Egg Pizza RM18
A rather unique and new concept. If you are bored with the usual ingredients for your pizza, do give this a try. This is the pizza with an eggy twist! ;-P
Smoked Salmon Pizza RM18
This has been Kaya’s favourite ever since Kaya first tasted smoked salmon pizza at Folks Cafe. The crust is very crispy and the smoked salmon gives the whole biting experience a bit of smoothness, crispiness and saltiness. Nice combo!
3 in 1 Pancake with Egg RM15
This is a very novel concept. KayaButter definitely appreciate the creativity and innovative juice of Love & Latte to make this dish yet we find that the combination is rather weird. We love the smoked duck, smoked salmon and bacon but to combine the meats with the pancakes is a bit weird to our taste buds. Give this a try if you are rather adventurous or as Google says it best, ‘I’m feeling lucky’.
Just Nutella Pancake RM11
This dish makes us drools at the sight of it. Definitely the steals the show. Who can resist the sweet & fragrant aroma of the hazelnut and chocolate of Nutella and such a beautiful presentation of this dish? The pancake we had that day was a bit too hard to our liking. We also hope that they will splash more Nutella to make it an even more exciting and memorable dish. 🙂
Matcha Pancake with Azuki Beans RM16.50
Again, before we finish drooling at the Just Nutella Pancake, this dish makes our saliva gland goes into OT mode. KayaButter love the Green Tea ice cream and Azuki Beans. We can’t stop eating them. Too bad that we need to share with other bloggers. If not, we would have devoured it within seconds. 😛 Although it is a matcha pancake, we can’s taste the matcha flavour. It is not strong enough to register its taste on our taste buds. We prefer the matcha pancakes done by Shunka Japanese Restaurant.
Banana Puff RM10.50
Thumbs up to Love & Latte chefs for creating so many beautiful and eye-catching dishes. Our taste is influenced by our eyes, nose and taste buds. Love & Latte scores high marks in the eyes department. The banana puff is quite a special concept and goes very well with the vanilla ice cream.
Affogato Green Tea RM9
A rather interesting fusion. Usually affogato is served by drowning a cup of espresso onto ice cream (usually vanilla ice cream). Here, what we have is green tea instead of espresso. Since it is a rather small cup of drink, we can’t really taste the drink as we need to share with many other bloggers. Do give this a try if you are looking for something new and interesting.
Nutella Latte RM11, Baby Nutella RM10 & Cappuccino RM9
We love the Nutella-infused drinks. 🙂
Threesome RM18
You can choose between these flavours for your Threesome. 😛
Espresso, Ristretto, Flat White, Cappuccino, Mocha, Hot Choc, Honey Milk, Nutella Latte, Nutella Choc & Green Tea Latte!
We didn’t get to taste their toasts and set meals. Love & Latte is definitely a place for Nutella lovers and a good place to chill and enjoy their beautiful desserts and cute coffee drinks. 🙂 Thanks to TourDirections for the invitation and Love & Nutella for hosting the review. 🙂
