When you think of dim sum whenever you are going to Kuala Lumpur or down south, the first that crosses your mind will be Foh San Dim Sum. Same thing happens when you tell your friends that you are going down to Kuala Lumpur or down south, I bet that many will tell you to stop by Foh Sam for breakfast. That’s how famous this dim sum restaurant is.
It is happy having the chance to review one of the latest Penang white curry mee. This version is from Kim Curry. It mentions that it is Penang traditional white curry noodle with natural ingredients of chili paste, on its packet. Above is the outlook of the instant white curry noodle. It comes in 4 packets per pack(RM6.80). I cannot wait to try out how it really taste like. Will it taste almost the same like the existing brands in the market? …or will it be different?
There is a new cafe in the heart of Georgetown, the UNESCO Heritage area called Folks Cafe. Folks Cafe is co-operating with Flash Back Guest House to provide the guests with breakfast, lunch & dinner. Folks Cafe is operated by two partners. They currently do not have any signboard yet. So, for the mean time, once you see the Flash Back signboard, you have reached Folks Cafe. As you drive from Cannon Street towards Acheh Street, turn left when you reach the T-junction. Folks Cafe is at your right. Find a parking space as soon as you turn right or you can try to find parking end of Cannon Street. Finding a parking space here is quite a challenge and expect to walk for a short distance if you can’t find parking near it.
So, KayaButter were invited by TourDirections Penang, a directory portal of all things Penang that includes food, accommodation and places of attractions, for a food review session at Noor & Dean Cafe, located at Noordin Street (双裕楼) @ Lebuh Noordin. Butter can’t make it that day because she has a class at WOU that time. 🙁
This is one of Kaya’s mum favorite lor mee stall in Penang. Located opposite or some will call it as besides the Penang very famous temple, Goddess of Mercy Temple or the locals will call it as Kuan Yin Teng (Hokkien Language). The Kuan Yin temple will be very busy every 1st and 15th of the lunar month. Full of her devotees who will worship her and also other gods and goddesses there.
Goku Raku Ramen has been renamed to Edo Ramen with the introduction of their new menu effective on 7th April 2014. Edo Ramen is still under the same management team of Goku Raku Ramen and their menu has been simplified. Instead of a lot of different kind of foods and choices, the management team decided to streamline their choices in two types of meat served and four kinds of soups to choose from. They wish to be able to serve their famous ramen faster and more efficient, hence, reduced waiting time. And one big positive note is that the price has been adjusted LOWER despite all the increases in their costs. Well done! 🙂
So, my mother in-law invited us for an early morning dim sum together with my father in-law. Dim sum is one of Chinese’s favorite breakfast. Kaya will call is as a premium breakfast since many of the dim sum restaurants have raised its prices since the prices of petrol, sugar and recently the purported water rate hike and God knows what else more. Some dim sum restaurant maintained the quality of their offerings but some reduced their quality despite the price increase. We chose Dian Xin Zhi Jia because of its affordable prices. Taste wise? After hearing our pastor mentioning about the famous ak thui mee suah (literally means duck drumstick vermicelli) and the famous cham peng (a drink you can order in many coffee shops around Penang that means iced coffee mixed with milk tea), we arranged our time to go and eat it again. This is one of the latest addition to the restaurants and food franchises that are available in Penang’s largest shopping mall, Queensbay Mall (QBM).
