[Invited Review] Folks Cafe @ Lebuh Acheh, Georgetown, Penang!
There is a new cafe in the heart of Georgetown, the UNESCO Heritage area called Folks Cafe. Folks Cafe is co-operating with Flash Back Guest House to provide the guests with breakfast, lunch & dinner. Folks Cafe is operated by two partners. They currently do not have any signboard yet. So, for the mean time, once you see the Flash Back signboard, you have reached Folks Cafe. As you drive from Cannon Street towards Acheh Street, turn left when you reach the T-junction. Folks Cafe is at your right. Find a parking space as soon as you turn right or you can try to find parking end of Cannon Street. Finding a parking space here is quite a challenge and expect to walk for a short distance if you can’t find parking near it.
Exterior of Folks Cafe. Definitely a good place to chill at night and not during the sunny afternoon except sun-lovers. 🙂
This cafe is named as Folks Cafe as it is meant for the everyday folks. They wish to serve the ordinary people with great and high quality food and make them feel happy and welcomed! 🙂
A quaint & small little cafe. Very cosy and relaxing. Space is quite limited though.
You find a seat and table. Go to the counter to order and pay. Then wait for your order to be served. 🙂 Their menu is quite straightforward and the price is slightly above average.
They have an alternative menu in case your neck feels painful looking upward! 😛
Their paper menu is definitely a winner here. Very comfy, homey and cute menu. Definitely will melt a lot of girls and even ladies’ hearts like K-Pop Stars… 😛 The fox and the rabbit in the menu and also as decoration in their cafe is actually a representative of the two owners.
Mushroom Munchies RM12
Definitely a very good finger food or appetizer. The addition of cheese helps to make the button mushroom more flavourful. Kaya is not a mushroom lover but this is so good that Kaya can’t have enough. !There are four button mushrooms in this dish and you can order as many as you like. Of course, the price is will different. 🙂
Mushroom Crunchy Salad RM14
One of the owners’ aim is to provide home made food with the highest quality of ingredients. Their dressing is home-made and adds a zesty flavour to the salad. It comes with hard boiled eggs, cherry tomatoes, lots of vegetables, roasted almond flakes and mushrooms. 🙂 Kaya prefers the salad with lots of the dressing. 🙂 This salad has some Japanese influence.
Folks Breakfast RM16
For those who are looking for Western breakfast, you are in luck as they serve this all day long. In case you can’t wake up early in the morning, you can still have this in the evening. The bacon and sausage is very good. 🙂
Carbonara Pasta RM16
This dish has some influence of the Japanese with the use of bonito flakes. The pasta is soft and springy! Very QQ. 🙂 The presenting is very eye-pleasing. Taste-wise is very creamy and smooth. For those who are looking for stronger cheesy flavour, you can ask for parmesan cheese to add on.
Smoked Salmon Skinny Pizza RM18
This is the highlight of the whole food review session. Very unique pizza with its smoked salmon. They use their home-made dressing and tomato sauce. Kaya always love thin crust pizzas because it will be very crunchy! You hardly find cafes selling smoked salmon pizzas. 🙂 A MUST-TRY!
Lime & Cilantro, Cucumber & Mint and Lychee & Lime RM9 each
Their combination of ingredients used in their ‘Refreshing Soda’ is very new and unique. One of the bloggers who ordered Lime & Cilantro loved his drink a lot even though he dislikes cilantro or more commonly known as coriander. Overall, if you try the vegetable soda, it will be very refreshing and light. Good for sunny weathers. 🙂
A decent drink. It is quite kind of the owners to include this biscuit. It is damn tasty. 🙂
One of the owners who does the explanations, Adele, the fox. 🙂
That’s all folks! The famous quote of my childhood cartoon, Looney Tunes. 🙂
Thank you Adele and Cheez for your kind hospitality and the great food review session! 🙂 Looking forward for your grand opening! 🙂
