St Presso Coffee @ Elit Avenue, Bayan Baru, Penang!
Rejoice, Bayan Baru and nearby residents! There is a new and high quality cafe opening at Elit Avenue, Bayan City, a four-storey commercial park similar to e-Gate. As many cafes are mushrooming in Georgetown area, it is refreshing to have a cafe opening outside of Georgetown area. It is called St. Presso Coffee and run by a very committed and dedicated boss.
It is located near to Giant hypermarket and currently, the management of Elit Avenue is not charging any parking fees at the time of KayaButter’s visit which is around January 2015. The situation might change as they get more businesses to operate there and more visitors to their place. St. Presso is located at the back corner of Elit Avenue. Stay calm and keep driving. 😛
As you can see from the 1st picture, the weather is rather gloomy with drizzling rain. Our moods are somber but as we step into St. Presso, our moods automatically lighten up with its classy yet relaxing ambience coupled with the use of yellow colour for its decorations and furnitures. The designer really does a good job in designing the outlet that is on par with Starbucks and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. With our moods up, we are looking forward to try their famous coffee.
As their main focus is their coffee, these cakes and pastries are actually outsourced to accommodate customers who wish to have something to bite together with their favourite coffee. The boss told us upfront that these are not done by themselves. A rather honest boss, we would say. 🙂
Butter ordered SP’s Mint Chocolate and damn it was so goooooood! 🙂 Kaya ordered Mango yoghurt blended. We took photos of other drinks that other bloggers ordered so that you can get a visual of the drinks. 🙂
SP’s Mint Mocha RM10.50
Gingerbread Flavoured Latte RM12.00
This is a seasonal drink that St. Presso will make according to the times of the year. It is really something special. They even give star-shaped biscuits and gingerbread-shaped biscuits.
SP’s Mint Chocolate RM9.50
This is our favourite drink and we believe that it should be the signature drink of St. Presso. The chocolate is very thick but not overly done and does not overpower the mint flavour. Every sip will make you want for more. A very good cup of mint chocolate drink! 🙂
Cafe Mocha RM10.50
Cafe Latte RM9.50
The boss who is also a barista himself always love to check out new outlets and cafes. He told us that there is a simple test to know whether the baristas are well-trained or serious at home. Just order latte and cappuccino and you will know the true skills of the barista on-duty. Both are also the same as it comes with coffee and milk but cappuccino contains more foam milk than latte. 🙂
Yoghurt Blended (Mango) RM13.50
This is what Kaya ordered and the taste is decent and just nice if you don’t want to have too much caffeine in your drinks.
The boss is very serious and committed in preparing only the freshest beans for his coffees and he also understands that each customers has his/her own preferences for the drinks. So, you can choose to adjust the temperature, the sweetness level, the amount of ice and etc for your drink. 🙂 The boss even let us try a coffee that he did with different angle in pressing the coffee beans. The outcome really shock us as the angle that you press the coffee beans really makes the coffee taste different.
Next, the boss prepared some sandwiches for us to taste which are suitable for those who look for something to bite while savouring a good cup of coffee.
Sautéed Grey Mushroom Sandwich (RM12.50)
Prawn & Egg Sandwich RM15.50
Grilled Chicken Thigh Sandwich RM14.50
This is their signature dish and with good reasons. The chicken thigh is well-grilled and not too over burnt. Definitely a better choice if you wish to fill your tummy! 🙂
SP’s Sandwich Trio RM16.50
This is basically the mini-sized of the three sandwiches that we have mentioned above. So, for those who believe variety is the spice of life, then you should go for this! 🙂
Melted Triple Cheese Sandwich RM14.50
We believe that this should be their signature dish also. The amount of cheese in the sandwich will make cheese-lovers crazy. Forget about your diet plan and enjoy this sinfully delicious and crunchy sandwich. This cheesy dish is finished within seconds among the bloggers! Please try this when you are in St. Presso! 🙂
One thing to note is their coleslaw is super awesome. Maybe KayaButter are biased as we are big fans of raisins and the raisins used in the coleslaw are big and juicy. It makes the whole coleslaw awesome! 🙂
Classical Caesar Salad RM9.50
Oh my God! This is one damn good caesar salad! Kaya who is not a big fan of caesar salad also cannot stop scooping the salad. The breadcrumb is mention-worthy because of its crunchiness and add on to the tasting experience. And yes, the cheese is doing its magic also. 🙂
Thank you St Presso and TourDirections for the invite and the intricate preparation for this invite and together with your detailed explanation about the coffee. 🙂 Thumbs up!
