Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar Challenge @ DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru!
Recently, there’s a cookie missing from the cookie jar of DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru. KayaButter are tasked to find out who is the culprit together with our other teammates. So happy to be able to play Sherlock Holmes this time. Both KayaButter are big fans of Sherlock Holmes and James Watson. KayaButter endured 9 hours of back-breaking and ass-numbing bus ride down to DoubleTree by Hilton in Johor Bahru to participate in its ‘Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar Challenge’.
We took the 11:30pm bus so that we could sleep our way to JB. Well, it was not a smooth ride. We needed to change bus when we reached KL around 4am++ and the 1st driver drove like a madman, very fast and shaky. Butter had a bad time sleep. The second bus driver was a very smooth and steady driver. Butter managed to get a good sleep. We reached Larkin Bus Terminal around 9am and bought the return bus tickets. We took one of the cab from the bus terminal and we were treated by a rather rude taxi driver. We asked about meter and receipt and he replied nonchalantly and just walked to his taxi. We were dumbfounded but we followed him since the taxi drivers there followed a some sort of queue system. The taxi driver didn’t help us to take the luggage and didn’t say a word after word. He was not familiar with DoubleTree and missed the turn into main entrance. We paid him and walked a bit to the main entrance. So, if you ask me to choose between local taxis or Uber, you will definitely know our answer. Sadly Uber is no longer working in Malaysia! 🙁
Anyway, our frustration and tiredness immediately wear off when we were greeted by the friendly receptionist and within minutes we are whisked to our room. Oh ya, without forgetting the iconic Chocolate Chip Cookie that is served piping hot when you check-in. As our room door opened, we were elated to be greeted with such a comfortable, classy and homey looking room. Just a sneak peak photo of the room, KayaButter will blog more about the hotel in another post.
High quality cookie with lots of ingredients. Definitely will miss it.
The General Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru, Mr Simon McGrath
Alright, let’s go back to the business. At night, all the other bloggers and social media influencers gathered at Makan Kitchen to listen to DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru’s General Manager, Mr Simon McGrath welcome speech. He’s very excited about the event and wished us all the best. Makan Kitchen serves some of the most authentic and fabulous local food. KayaButter are quite impressed with their offerings. The restaurant review will also need to be in another post. 🙂
The two game masters, Mr Ezra (left) and Mr Peter (right)
Later on, all of us went to Tosca, an Italian restaurant on the 13th floor of DoubleTree by Hilton. It offers a fascinating and breathtaking view of Johor Bahru skyline. We were split into two groups consisting of 5 team members per group. My group is led by Ezra, the famous actor from ‘The Effing Show’ whereas another group is led by the COO, Chief of Operating Officer of Go Communications, Mr Peter.
Here is the list of my 4 other group members, each with their distinctive characteristics:
We coined our group as the Guardians of The Cookie Jar with the hashtag #GOTCJ. Haha! What a cute name! After a good sleeping on their signature SweetDreamsTM by DoubleTree bedding, KayaButter were refreshed to participate in the challenge.
Mr Simon gave us a good morning speech and wished us best of luck!
The game mechanics are very simple. There is no time factor in this game. There are four suspects, Jessica, the celebrity, Marvin, the business traveller, Martha, the mother of 3 children and finally, Tom & Daisy, the honeymoon couple. One of them stole the cookie from the cookie jar and we are needed to solve the mystery. Each team needs to complete 4 challenges for each of the suspects to understand them more and at the end of the each 4 challenges, team will receive a clue.
We started with Jessica, the celebrity. The 1st challenge we did was to register as Hilton HHonors member and post a #selfie with the card to our social media. It was rather easy.
Kaya was posing with Butter and the temporary Hilton HHonors card. 🙂
The 2nd challenge was introduce the Presidential Suite by each blogger. Here’s the video that we took. Please laugh at me! 😛 So kayu la Kaya. 😛
We found the clue for the next challenge. It is so obvious. Off to gym we go! 🙂
After that, four of the bloggers need to do 4 gym routines at their 24-Hour DoubleTree Fitness by TechnoGym® that Jessica loves to do and one blogger will have to take photos. Here is our final ‘masterpiece’ for our 3rd challenge! 🙂
We found this clue in the gym. Tosca, here we come!
The last challenge for Jessica, the celebrity is to guess the names of the cocktails and mocktails that the bartender has prepared for us. It is 10:30am++ in the morning and we already started drinking. 😛
Cheers!!! From Team #GOTCJ!!!
This is the 1st clue that we get from the Jessica, the celebrity challenge. The shape of her stiletto.
Next, we took on Marvin, the business traveller challenge. The 1st challenge is to go to Business Center and use our Facebook to check-in to the place and says holla to our followers in social media. Rather easy and quick. We are amazed by the grandeur, contemporary and classy design of the ballrooms and the whole floor’s setting.
The 2nd challenge is go to his room and hit the golf ball into a small bin. Each bloggers is given 3 chances to hit it in. 3 of our team members manage to hit hole-in-one whereas 2 team members did it after a few tries. ‘It must be the carpet problem,’ said one of our bloggers. 😛 Those funny moments that KayaButter will miss. 🙂 After that, we need to find the clue inside the room to move to the next challenge.
The 3rd challenge requires our creative juice which is to design a flyer about the meeting and conference facilities that DoubleTree by Hilton has to offer and create a tagline. Our tagline is ‘Business Just Got Personal’. Cool eh? 😛 After that, we need to find a clue inside the Board Room to move to the final challenge.
The final challenge takes us to Executive Lounge on 29th floor which is accessible only to those who stayed from 26th floor to the 30th floor. You can have your breakfast there in privacy. Our last challenge is to write a postcard for our loved ones and the hotel will help us to post it on behalf of us. How thoughtful… After that take a photo of the postcard and post it to our social media.
Thanks #DoubleTreeJB for posting the postcard to us! 🙂
We finally receive the 2nd clue after completing Marvin, the business traveller.
Martha, the mother of 3 children is the 3rd suspect that we need to complete the challenges to get the 3rd clue. The 1st stop is the Food Store to guess which food that Martha’s 3 children eat based on 3 photos they provided us. We managed to ordered the right food and matched them correctly at our first try.
Here are what we ordered to match the photos! Loved the Vanilla Milkshake! Damn ‘tohkong’ 😛
The 2nd challenge is to go up to Martha’s room and we need to be housekeeper. Each bloggers make up each section of the room. Kaya needs to make up the living room. We need to take before and after of the section we are in charge and post the photo to our social media. After that, we need to find the clue for the next challenge.
Here is the before and after my housekeeping. Not bad eh! Future housekeeper in the making. Haha! 😛 Next time if Kaya’s jobless, I will come to DoubleTree JB to apply! 😛
The clue guides us to Makan Kitchen and we are required to create 1Malaysia dish based on our creative minds, take photo and post it to our social media. What do you think of our creation? 🙂
The last challenge brings us to the pool at 13th floor. This is where Kaya needs to swim across the pool to get the 3rd clue. After the 3rd suspect, our energy level starts to go down. Maybe the alcohol level is low already. Haha! 😛
The 4th suspect, Tom & Daisy, the honeymoon couple’s first challenge starts at the pool. We are required to do a duck face #selfie and post it to our social media. Easy stuff.
The 2nd challenge is at their room. Here we need to use the stuffs given to create a lovey-dovey design on their bed for their honeymoon, take a photo and post it to our social media. Here’s our creation. After that, we need to find a clue in their room.
The clue leads us to the 3rd challenge at the wedding centre where we need to arrange the sequence of a wedding. We got Indian wedding and after some Googling and wild guess, we managed to get it right.
The last challenge of the last suspect ends at Tosca where we need to reenact one scene from The Lady and The Tramp which is the noodles kiss. Each pair of us doing the noodles kiss. Damn awkward le! Haha! 🙂 Here’s the outcome!
Phew! Finally we completed all our challenges in around 3 hours++. Many of us are hungry already. Our game master, Ezra, brings us to the crime scene to help us to better understand the mystery. He brings us to the hotel’s kitchen which is a restricted area. The foot prints are small. Could it be a kid? Or Martha?
Later, we were brought to Food Store to have some sandwiches while we cracked our brains to try to solve the mystery. After going through the details, debate and voting, we finally decided that Martha was the one who stole the cookie!
Smith Leong went out and told the story of why we believed Martha was the one who stole the cookie!
A pretty convincing story that the game masters felt that it was the real thing. Their reactions boosted our confidence. See Ezra’s reaction! 😛 Haha
Then, it was Cookie Buster’s turn to tell their story. Josh went up and told us another different story and their team said that one of Martha’s child was the one who stole the cookie. In a twist of event, the Cookie Buster team got it right! A rather shocking answer! Anyhow, congratulations to team Cookie Buster. All the 5 team members wins 5D4N stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.
DoubleTree by Hilton’s management is so nice to prepare a consolation prize for us. We got 3D2N stay also!
Thank you very much DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru team for such a wonderful and exciting game! Many thanks to Simon McGrath and Grace Chiam, Marketing and Communications Manager for the invite and great hospitality. Thank you, Karen & Lena from the Go Communications and Elaine for hosting us with great care. Thanks to our awesome game master, Mr Ezra & Peter and my great team members, Chris, Karen, Smith and Reem. #GOTCJ team ROCKS!!! The event is great fun and awesome and you guys just make it better! Hope to see you all again in the future events! May the odds be ever in your favour! 😛
