Ramadan Buffet Dinner at G Café @ G Hotel Gurney, Gurney Drive, Penang!!!
Selamat berpuasa to all my Muslim friends who are observing this ritual in this holy month. It is a month of cleansing for my Muslim friends especially their soul. This is also the month whereby non-Muslims will also get a chance to taste their mouth-watering Muslim food. The Sous Chef of G Hotel Gurney, Chef Harmizi cooks up some great dishes to tantalise your taste buds such as Nasi Briyani, Paha Kambing Percik Kasturi Sos, Ikan Keli Masak Kari, Ayam Piru Rendang Seri G and Ayam Masak Merah.
The main themes of G Hotel’s Ramadan Buffet dinner 2014 are Rasa Utara, Selera Pantai Timur and Juadah Selatan.
Rasa Utara offers interesting and tasty dishes from the North such as Laksa Kuala Kedah, Nasi Hujan Panas and Kari Kepala Ikan. As for Selera Pantai Timur, the stars of the line will be Ayam Percik Kelantan, Laksam, Kari Ikan Tongkol and Nasi Dagang. Meanwhile, Juadah Selatan offers delightful Sup Tulang Sum Sum, Briyani Gam, Laksa Johor and Ikan Tenggiri Masak Asam Pedas. If those are not enough, something different for you to chew on is a choice from the Middle East and Peranakan recipe too such as Nasi Chicken Manday, Hokkien Mee and Lamb Kofta. All these lines will be set on different days throughout the whole month of Ramadhan.
Here are some of the main dishes that KayaButter have tasted. All the food here are quite decent and hotel standard. KayaButter will comment on those which are exceptionally good or bad. 🙂

To get the Roasted Lamb Leg and Laksa Utara, you need to walk to the farthest opposite from the dining area with outside view. You will see two stalls there by the name of Carvery and Noodle Station.

Kaya finds that rice noodles is a bit too hard for me to chew. Kaya prefers rice noodles that are QQ or elastic, smooth and soft texture. The fish broth is a bit spicy.

This is a hard-t0-find dish. You rarely see such big anchovies selling in Penang. Loves the crunchiness and the sweetness of this dish. Do enjoy this! 🙂

This is one of the killer dessert that will make you crave for more. Using real durian flesh, it is no wonder that this dessert is finished very fast. One thing good is that it is not too sweet.

Oh my, as usual, KayaButter’s favorite! We usually put every available fruits there except apricot because we are allergic to it especially Butter. How we wish we can take this home! 🙂
Overall, G Café has a wide selection of local and internation desserts that are able to satisfy desserts lovers. The quality and quantity is there and KayaButter enjoy their desserts more than their mains. 😛
G Sunset
A very refreshing and power-packed drink. After one sip, you will not stop. It really energizes Kaya after a few sips. It is a bit too sweet for those who are cautious with sugar. For those who have sweet tooth, this is just amazing. This is a drink that you can order but you will have to pay extra for it. A great drink to accompany you while chilling in G Café or their lounge.
Ice Cream Corner
There is always another stomach for ice cream, not matter how full you are. Hehe 🙂 So far, one of the thing that attracts KayaButter is their super cute Gelatomio gelato. You just can’t enough of it.
