G Hotel Christmas Eve 2014 Buffet Dinner @ G Café, G Hotel, Gurney Drive, Penang!

Christmas is 4 more days to go and the festive mood is getting better and better each day. KayaButter feels that this 2014’s Christmas festive is better than previous years. Maybe there are many Christmas-related reviews or many of the shopping malls put extra effort to decorate their malls. If you are looking to bring your family members and loved ones to celebrate Christmas with lots of Christmas goodies and especially the 100% Christmas mood activator as some bloggers feel so which is the TURKEY! The turkey served by G Café, G Hotel is sooooo GOOOODDD!!! 🙂 Our favourite hotel, G Hotel’s Christmas buffet does not disappoint this year with so many lip-smacking dishes especially the very delicious desserts! We gotta start the sharing of its buffet dinner with desserts! 🙂

As you step in to G Hotel’s G Café, you will immediately feel the Christmas atmosphere. There are some Christmas goodies that you can buy from G Café. Do check it out! 🙂

Gingerbread House

Love this very cute Santa! KayaButter love the small and detailed figurines that dotted the dishes. So cute and enhance the Christmas atmosphere. We almost wanted to stealthily put those figurines into our bag. Ssshhh…. Don’t let the MarComms team knows about it or else they will ban us from the next review. Haha ;-P

Christmas Yule Log Cake

This cake literally stole the show and attracted many camera and eyeballs. It is so delicate and has a very detailed design. KayaButter feel very bad to slice the cake and eat as it is so beautifully done. Definitely enhances the Christmas atmosphere.

Christollen

This is a German traditional cake that is usually eaten during Christmas month. It is also called as Weihnachtsstollen and is a type of fruit cake. It is usually filled with dried fruits, spices and nuts and sprinkled with icing sugar to give some Christmas-effect. 🙂

Strawberry Chill Cheese Cake

This is a MUST-TRY! It is not too sweet and cheesy that it will make you feel satiated or what the locals say jelak. It is soft and melts in your mouth when you put it in. Kaya feels that strawberry and cheese goes hand in hand very well. Kaya had two slices that day. Damn good! 🙂

Assorted Christmas Cookies

Chocolate Mud Cake

This is the HIGHLIGHT of the day for the desserts category. Many bloggers of the day give thumbs-up for this rich chocolatey taste. It is very heavenly. The cake is soft and so full of the chocolate taste.

The Mini Pineapple Tarts are good as finger food. The size is just nice for a bite. The Christmas Fruit Cake is full of the sweet stuffs that will make those who have sweet tooth salivates. The Cinnamon Peach Cake is a rather unique cake and tastes very good with the combination. 🙂

Bread Pudding

This is also our all-time favourite dessert from G Hotel. Very fluffy yet soft in the inside. A very god and delicious dessert!

Chocolate Fondue with Assorted Dippings

It seems to be a standard offering these days for buffets. G Hotel stood out by providing many types of dippings. Of course, KayaButter’s favourite will be the grapes and marshmallows! 🙂

Navarin D’Agneau

Navarin D’Agneau is a French phrase that means lamb stew. It comes with a lot of tomatoes and olives. KayaButter do not really know how to enjoy olives in its fruit form. Too sourish for us. Hehe. The lamb stew is tender and does not have the gamy taste which is good for us as we don’t like the smell of lamb. It blends well with the sauce given. 🙂

Seafood Au Gratia

This dish left a deep impression on KayaButter. Topped with cheese, the squids, fish and prawns tasted light and blended very well with the cheese to give it a rather aromatic taste to the sweet and a bit salty seafood. A very well executed dish, we would say. 🙂

Poulet Française

Poulet Française literally means Chicken in French Style. That’s what KayaButter got after Googling around and that’s all. All we can say is that it seems to be something like chicken chop but in French way. We might be wrong and welcome feedback especially my readers from French background or French people. This is a very enjoyable dish as the chicken is boneless and tastes good! 🙂

A dish worthy of mention is the Duck AL’Orange. The meat is very well cooked and there is no strong gamy taste and mixes well with the orange sauce! Thumbs-up! It seems that duck and orange goes very well together. Even Butter who does not eat duck meat also finds that this duck meat is good! Recommended.

This is one thing that KayaButter like about G Hotel buffet. They have a live station whereby they will cook certain dishes and serves you fresh and on-the-spot. For this time’s buffet, you can order freshly grilled dishes from the selection below:

Salmon, Cat Fish, Squid, King Prawn, Steak, Slipper Lobster, Lamb Chop, Chicken Chop, Beef Steak, Chorizo & Bratwurst Sausage, Grilled Vegetables, Corn on Cob & Baked Potatoes with 6 types of Sauce and Condiments

Oh ya, they also prepare pastas for you. KayaButter love their pasta. Very springy and not too soft and not too hard also. Just right, we would say. The sauce and cheese is just right and makes the whole pasta tastes so good! Recommended. 🙂

Roasted Turkey with Apple Cranberry Sauce & Giblet Gravy with Traditional Stuffing

The big bird that makes the whole Christmas feels Christmas, if you get what we mean. The turkey is very good and goes very well with the apple cranberry sauce and also the giblet gravy. The whole turkey is fully imported. It does not have a lot of oil and the meat is very tender and full of moist unlike some turkey meats that are dry. You can actually order this turkey and take home with the price of RM388++ for the whole bird and it comes with the sauces, garden vegetables and roasted potatoes.

The best ending for our hearty and filling buffet dinner. The cute ice-creams with eyes. Check out the cute ice-cream photos here. KayaButter are a big fan of G Hotel’s gelato after trying it when we first patronise G Hotel’s high tea buffet.

G Hotel’s Christmas Eve 2014 Buffet Dinner comes with more than 100 choices that covers a wide range of selections from Appetisers, Vegetables from the Salads Bar, Dressings & Condiments, Fresh Seafood on Ice (Flower Crabs, Yabis, Prawns, Mussels and Scallops. We didn’t cover this) Japanese Sushi Bar (We know what you will think of. Sashimi! Gotcha!), Show Kitchen Live Cooking, Soups, Carvery, From Barbeque Griller, Hot from The Chafing Dish (The main courses) and finally Desserts! The desserts definitely stood out this time! 🙂 We really love them.
