Eastin Hotel Penang August 2014 Buffet Theme – Magnificent Malaysia!!!
31st August is a date that means a lot to Malaysians. Well, to all Malaysians and those who work in Malaysia, it is a public holiday. It is also to recognize and mark the day that Peninsular Malaysia is free from the colonial rule. 31st August 1957 to be exact. So for this nationalistic month, Eastin Hotel Penang is proud to introduce their August’s buffet theme which is, of course, called as Magnificent Malaysia where many Malaysia’s multi-cultural dishes will be found. You can find cuisines of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian specialties.
Appetizers & Soup 开胃菜
Sup Ekor Lembu
Known for its blood circulation and internal energy enchancement benefits, this is one of the sought-after soups for those who have acquired this taste. The beef meat is well cooked. KayaButtter find that the soup is not thick enough to our liking.
Pasembur with Peanut Sauce
This is considered a ‘high-end’ pasembur as it includes soft shell crabs and fried octopus. The peanut sauce lack some ‘oomph’ as it is lacking enough spiciness. Still, these fried fritters go well with the peanut sauce provided to enhance the flavors.
Chicken Satay with Condiments
This is KayaButter’s all-time favorite. The sauce is already applied to the satay when it is grilled. The sauce flavor is very strong and goes deep into the chicken meat. KayaButter love it so much! We just can’t stop. Since satay is getting more expensive out there, this buffet gives you an opportunity to satiate your craving for satay without burning a big hole in your pocket. 🙂
Main Courses 主菜
Ikan Panggang
The fish is fresh and there is no fishy smell. The sweet and spicy sauce that goes so well with the fish is Kaya’s favorite.
Assam Prawns
Although KayaButter are no big fans of seafood, Assam Prawns always have a spot in our heart. The sour and spicy prawn is definitely heavenly. If the chefs can make the shells peel easier, then it will be perfect.
Kambing Masala
Daging Rendang Tok
Ayam Percik
This is the highlight of the whole main courses. KayaButter just cannot stop eating this well marinated and juicy chicken meat. The sauce make the chicken even more irresistible. Many bloggers concur to this dish.
Tempe Masak Sambal
Nasi Briyani
Luckily, Eastin Hotel put Nasi Briyani into one of the dishes to be introduced in this Magnificent Malaysia buffet. With so many mouth-watering dishes, they have to go together with a great rice dish to make the whole experience wholesome. Malaysians can’t go without rice and this Nasi Briyani is so flavorful and it comes with anchovies too. If it comes with raisins, Kaya will say that this Nasi Briyani will be perfect! 🙂
Desserts 甜品
Ais Kacang
The moment KayaButter see this dessert, we wish we could just put our spoon in and take a few spoonfuls of this awesome cooling dessert. After tasting all the appetizers and main courses, we are presented with Ais Kacang. It is perfect for our crazy hot weather recently. With the addition of dried nutmeg just completes the Ice Kacang. You hardly find outside whereby the Ais Kacang that comes with dried nutmeg.
Assorted Malay Kuih
All in all, these are the highlights of Eastin Hotel Penang’s August 2014 buffet and KayaButter truly enjoyed the food. There are many great dishes and a few misses. Besides that, Eastin Hotel Penang does provide some impressive desserts selection. Butter always go for their desserts. Butter always has a second stomach for their desserts despite being very full after the food tasting. 😛
