Eastin Hotel Penang May 2014 Buffet Theme – Greek Grandeur!

For the month of May 2014, Eastin Hotel Penang’s Swez Brasserie is introducing Greek Grandeur as its buffet theme. This is definitely a bold move by the Eastin Hotel Penang management to introduce Greek cuisine to Penangnites! That’s definitely a fresh and novel culinary experience for us! KayaButter have never tried before Greek food, so definitely KayaButter will be reviewing the food using our localized taste bud

[Invited Review] Edo Ramen @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang (6) 6

[Invited Review] Edo Ramen @ Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang!

Goku Raku Ramen has been renamed to Edo Ramen with the introduction of their new menu effective on 7th April 2014. Edo Ramen is still under the same management team of Goku Raku Ramen and their menu has been simplified. Instead of a lot of different kind of foods and choices, the management team decided to streamline their choices in two types of meat served and four kinds of soups to choose from. They wish to be able to serve their famous ramen faster and more efficient, hence, reduced waiting time. And one big positive note is that the price has been adjusted LOWER despite all the increases in their costs. Well done! 🙂

Dim Sum House 点心之家 Dim Sum Restaurant (Dian Xin Zhi Jia) @ Anson Road, Opposite KDU, Penang!

So, my mother in-law invited us for an early morning dim sum together with my father in-law. Dim sum is one of Chinese’s favorite breakfast. Kaya will call is as a premium breakfast since many of the dim sum restaurants have raised its prices since the prices of petrol, sugar and recently the purported water rate hike and God knows what else more. Some dim sum restaurant maintained the quality of their offerings but some reduced their quality despite the price increase. We chose Dian Xin Zhi Jia because of its affordable prices. Taste wise? Read on.

Ak Thui Mee Suah @ Jalan Sungai Pinang, Georgetown, Penang!

After hearing our pastor mentioning about the famous ak thui mee suah (literally means duck drumstick vermicelli) and the famous cham peng (a drink you can order in many coffee shops around Penang that means iced coffee mixed with milk tea), we arranged our time to go and eat it again. Yes, KayaButter have been here a few times but always didn’t find the chance to blog about it.

Little Nyona 小娘惹 @ Queensbay Mall, Penang (8) 5

The Little Nyonya Cuisine 小娘惹 @ Queensbay Mall, Penang!

This is one of the latest addition to the restaurants and food franchises that are available in Penang’s largest shopping mall, Queensbay Mall (QBM). It is not very new since The Little Nyonya Cuisine (TLNC) 小娘惹 has been around in Penang for many months already but new in the sense that TLNC 小娘惹 is a rather new face in QBM food scene.
